Bennington College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in playwriting to join its nationally recognized undergraduate program in Drama starting Fall 2025. Responsibilities include teaching 5 courses per year, academic advising, working with colleagues to mentor students, and service. The successful candidate will be a teacher/practitioner with a strong record of accomplishment in playwriting and who is well-versed in inclusive teaching practices. The position entails teaching playwriting courses with a wide scope and conceptual variety to students with a range of interests and skill levels. Candidates who are comfortable with multiple styles and genres (which might include writing for musical theater and devising), and who can nourish voices and styles different from their own will be particularly competitive for the position. Candidates who meet the above requirements and who also have experience in directing and/or screenwriting will be given preference in the search.
